Welcome! The joyful road to vibrant ageing starts here. 🚗
This is what healthy ageing looks like, beyond the hype: a series of gentle destinations, with roadmaps to guide new adventures.
Hello!
WELCOME to Road Trip to Younger. Here’s where we tap into our curiosity and wanderlust and ask the big question: how, exactly, can we grow younger as we grow (gloriously!) older?
As I venture towards my 64th birthday, I know just how life-changing this journey can be, so I’m honestly excited about your road ahead. With my journalist hat pulled on tight. I’ll be mapping the science-backed roads less travelled, handing you the keys and easing you into the driver's seat of your own aging.
Everything here is specially crafted for women 50+. But everyone is welcome! If you’re under 50, I hope what you’ll find here gives you a strategic headstart, or at least a game-changing glimpse of what’s in store.
The exciting thing for me is that it’s wrapped in a cool little magazine aesthetic.

Road Trip to Younger magazine launched 15 December, 2024. It’s digital only but I’m having fun developing that sense of a print magazine.
Claire Venus described the first cover it as ”One of the most brilliant things I’ve seen this year!” Pinch me…
About me
Hi, I’m Brodee and, in case we haven’t met, I'm coming to you fresh from three decades in publishing, at the helm of some of Australia's biggest lifestyle magazines, including the top food brand, taste.com.au.
Now, having left traditional media, I'm bringing everything I've learned (and still uncovering!) about creating magazines, and also about healthy joyful ageing to this wide open road of Substack.
I’ve been on this road trip for many years and test driving it for myself so it’s a thrill to bring you the unique tools I’ve created. There’s a lot to share, including The Joyspan Compass that sits at the centre of this road trip. This guides us to our longest and most pleasurable health span possible. It’s the eight things that matter most for women aged 50+.

What's This Journey About?
Road Trip to Younger is like a magazine, travel guide and a thriving ageing handbook, all in one. It’s also a fledgling community of like-minded joy-seeking road trippers.
Each week, I’ll bring you the things exciting me from the world of longevity science. I’ll also curate tours to life-changing Destinations via simple powerhouse habits such as Destination: 15-Minute Mindfulness
Together, we'll build what I call 'Joyspan' – the longest, most pleasurable healthspan possible.

Plus occasional feature articles and other fun extras like *Easy recipes *Music playlists *Podcasts *Q&As *Essays on ageing * Interviews with inspiring women sharing their journeys.
Why This Matters Now
The science is clear, there’s no better time than now to start driving your destiny. The sooner and younger you start, the more power you have to shape your aging journey.
It’s also one of the most important investments we can make right now - think of it like the biological equivalent of a retirement plan, or compound interest for your wellbeing. With future of aged care so unclear, my mission is to help make this road trip the gift that keeps giving to your future self.
The good news? You can tailor everything. Nothing should be difficult or a ‘punish’. This journey’s about clever steering – towards joy, discovery, and feeling amazing at every age.

The road ahead is exciting, and I can't wait to share it with you. Let's turn ageing upside down, one destination at a time.
PS I bring my best journalism here, and endeavour to be as meticulous as possible. That said, I am grateful for any feedback, thoughts and corrections no matter how small, at any time.
Hey Brodee,
Congratulations for that timespan in the corporate world and more importantly for going rogue and doing your thing! I love your concept of the “joyspan” and the Age-Well Compass. It’s such an inspiring, actionable approach to aging vibrantly.
I’m Maryann, founder of Notes to Selfe, a publication helping women invest in innovations that transform health and longevity. I’m also writing a book (to be released summer 2025) helping high-net-worth individuals (especially women) allocate capital into impactful health ventures for better lives and stronger returns.
Your work aligns beautifully with these themes. I’d love to connect, explore synergies and support each other. Wishing you much success on this exciting road trip!
Well I am just too excited for words to discover you this morning …….I’m tentatively finalising plans around middle years & beyond wisdom incorporating my years of mental health training, coaching, counselling, family intervention etc
I grew up on a farm in rural South Australia, & am now living in Adelaide. I love to travel & roadtrips give an excuse to switch off from the frantic world & just be present with what is around you - windows down, water bottle at the ready & sunnies firmly on. That, plus here in Australia my phone is often out of range when we do a road trip so it’s like a double blessing in my book!! 😉
