Congratulations for that timespan in the corporate world and more importantly for going rogue and doing your thing! I love your concept of the “joyspan” and the Age-Well Compass. It’s such an inspiring, actionable approach to aging vibrantly.
I’m Maryann, founder of Notes to Selfe, a publication helping women invest in innovations that transform health and longevity. I’m also writing a book (to be released summer 2025) helping high-net-worth individuals (especially women) allocate capital into impactful health ventures for better lives and stronger returns.
Your work aligns beautifully with these themes. I’d love to connect, explore synergies and support each other. Wishing you much success on this exciting road trip!
Well I am just too excited for words to discover you this morning …….I’m tentatively finalising plans around middle years & beyond wisdom incorporating my years of mental health training, coaching, counselling, family intervention etc
I grew up on a farm in rural South Australia, & am now living in Adelaide. I love to travel & roadtrips give an excuse to switch off from the frantic world & just be present with what is around you - windows down, water bottle at the ready & sunnies firmly on. That, plus here in Australia my phone is often out of range when we do a road trip so it’s like a double blessing in my book!! 😉
Tiffany, what a lovely note. You’ve made my day. I love what you’ve said here and excited to meet a fellow road tripping devotee! Welcome aboard our little convoy!
I love the sound of where you’re headed with your Substack! Can’t wait to read it.
Hi Lisa, How good is roadtripping? I'd love to do UK some time, and already have a big map with dots on it. Some of my best times have been on the road When you combine the that curious and carefree road trip mindset with a health focus, it does seem something magic happens. Somehow it tends to nuke a lot of that screwy hard-wiring (eg self-criticism) we unfortunately often have as women
Hi Brodee, excited to find you - your mag looks freakin' awesome!!! I'm 59; I've worked for decades in fashion - modelling, designer, retailer, and entrepreneur. Since closing my last business and losing my mother to cancer, my life has taken a different direction, with more focus on nature, advising other biz founders and exploring the wonders of this marvellous life. My partner and I have an old Troopy and have made some amazing off-road trips in Australia...with more in the pipeline! I wake up feeling so bloody lucky to be alive most days! Can't wait to read more from you and the community you're building. Cheers :)
Hi Brodee - as an -almost - 58-year-old woman, this sounds right up my street! A UK London street is where you'll find me - but our passion for positive, joyful ageing is the same in any language and in any continent, isn't it?! I'm also a women's mag journalist, currently freelancing now and then for HELLO! Second Act which is for women 45+. Alongside this I care for my mum and dad (both mid 80s), help out with whatever my kidults are needing from me (not much anymore, thankfully) and walk and play with my Golden Retriever for hours! I've been married for 32 years and it's my dream to write a book one day and hopefully, Substack will help me get consistent. So lovely to meet you here and can't wait to read all your juicy, joyful posts! Lisa xx
Hello, and thank you so much for your note, Lisa. In just a few short words, I feel like I know you already. I am so happy I am to meet you here. Isn’t Substack the best for finding ‘your people’?
Looking forward to growing fabulously older, together!
My task for this week is to unsubscribe and scale back my many substack subscriptions. But! My trusted advisor, Cara Bradley, recommended this publication to her subscribers so I am looking forward to learning more and promise to upgrade to a paid subscription once I've confirm that I am actually reading and revisiting it. Grateful for your free option in the meantime. Love that you are science based and have a background in journalism.
Welcome to Substack, Brodee! Looking forward to traveling your joyful road in 2025 and beyond. As a 57 who has pivoted and reinvented myself several times I’m aging well and turning life upside down in the process. My stack, The Power of Change just hit 500 subscribers and I’m thrilled with the community of 50+ women who have joined me as they reevaluate their lives and create the change they want or need for the next stage.
Brodee, it is beyond exciting to see where you take this. Interesting you mention 'roadtripping' as I have recently acquired a coach. You'd call it a bus. I picked it up in Alice Springs and spent 5 days bringing it back to the mid north coast where it is getting a motor home upgrade. It has a 7.2 litre, 6 cylinder, 2 stroke engine so you can imagine the glorious music it makes when I activate the Jake brake....but enough about me, your pedigree is in starting something new and exciting, filling it with your passion and making it kick arse. You're in a good place with the keeper behind you.... Love to the tribe. ☮️❤️🛹
An exciting endeavor. I am excited about this next stage of my life. But my late menopause came with estrogen positive cancer, so one aspect of your compass is out of my reach. I still think I will be able to do the next decades well. :)
Welcome to Substack Brodee, I started 6 months ago writing Spice Chronicles, it’s a warm and supportive community. I wish you a joyful success with your Substack.
I'm probably your girl then Brodee, lots of spice knowledge, lots of cooking knowledge, lots of traditional knowledge and lets not forget academic.... It would be lovely to connect. Oh and I have an small organic spice company call Spice Alchemy, a range of spice blends that emerged out of my cooking classes.
