The Joyful Resilience Project is live! I'm having fun decoding my pantry and fridge. It's amazing how many UPFs I've smoked out! I'd love to hear what you uncover! Here's the Chat support group https://substack.com/chat/2854754

Love the cheat sheet of UPFs! Have you ever used the Yuka app? Very helpful in identifying these bad boys.

Bloody brilliant Brodee!!! Thanks for a thoughtful intelligent read and practical ways to move forward. I never really thought about it before but I very rarely shop the middle isles now it makes sense. And what a project! I’ll be tuning in regularly for sure. Thank you. Love your work. Anita xx

Great job exposing the non-food crap supermarkets have been selling as food. I’m lucky I grew up with a health nut mum who passed on her knowledge of what food is (and isn’t). She was ahead of her time, eating muesli and yogurt in Australia before it was a thing (1970s). Even making her own yogurt (not usual for a Skippy!) The array of UPFs available is horrifying!

Sorry I missed this! Your mum sounds awesome, Lisa. One of the most horrifying stats I came across as part of my research is that the heaviest users of UPFs are kids. All those convenience foods. I do notice that aisle exploding. Who knows the long-term consequences --- eek!

Fantastic Brodee - thank you for the cheat sheet. I'm reading Dr. Dale Bredesen's book, "The End of Alzheimer's Programme" - The Practical Plan to Prevent and Reverse Cognitive Decline at any Age. It's fantastic. And all the actual science to back it up, gives a detailed diet plan etc. etc. Worth getting and following! I'm a huge convert!

Thanks Chrissie! I love a good recommendation. This one sounds right up my alley. My dear Dad has recently moved to a higher dementia facility. My Mum had Alzheimer’s too. I’m holidaying over the next few weeks. So this is perfect timing xxx

I'm a firm believer in 80/20. While primarily plant- and whole-food-based, I have a few processed food "treats" that I dole out occasionally. My poor husband loves meat and processed food, but since I do all the cooking, he's at my mercy. And he can't deny the health benefits - he lost 50 pounds four years ago and has kept it off. This is validating, thanks!

“He’s at my mercy” 😂 Love it Elizabeth. I’m sure your torture, in the long run, is adding life to his years and years to his life 👏👏

I just got this. It's 3 am so I have to read it tomorrow but it's so creative. I was 'raw' for a time in my life. I spent 3 months at Optimum Health Institute as a volunteer (now called missionary). I ate fresh wheat grass every day and the best fruits, veggies and rejuvelac. I looked so great when I left there and I felt better than I looked. Years later, I spent 3 weeks at True North in Santa Rosa and did a 14 day water fast. That was VERY cleansing and healing. I look forward to reading this tomorrow. I must say that these things are more easily done while in a supportive group.
